info        writing        curatorial        art

i am an art curator, writer, poet, and lens-based artist based in brooklyn, new york. i care about those who devote their practice to the material, cultural, social, or affective betterment of our world. i reject the idea that i should reduce my practice to a few categories and buzzwords. instead, here are some principles that guide everything i do in my life and work.

art is the most radical mode of political imagination.
art can be a political catalyst, but not a political action.
remember that categorical statments about art are stupid.
help others integrate art as part of their ordinary life.
accept that it’s ironic being a leftist art worker.
prioritize sincerity over irony, always.
beauty and goodness are the same thing.
abjection and revolution are beautiful things.
cherish the freedom afforded by identity politics.
remain skeptical of identity politics under capitalism.
practice charitability over skepticism, always.
curate as a mediator, not an authoritative leader.
remember that you always have authority as curator.
speak about art like an artist, not an art scholar.
learn again how to love, rather than appreciate.
stop intellectualizing everything you see.
move through it all with pleasure and play.

this is a selection of projects i’ve worked on these past few years: exhibitions i organized (or helped organize), work-in-progress research, exhibition reviews, personal essays, experimental writing, poetry, and art.

enjoy your time here.
you’re welcome here.
stay with me in here.
